Wix Premium + a booking plugin is about £25-40/mo. But you build the site, write the copy, set up the SEO, take the screenshots, manage the bookings. Or you pay a freelancer £800+ once. Solovi does all of it for £39/mo flat, done in 7 days, supported forever.
No credit card. No setup fee. 30-day money back on paid plans.
Honest comparison, same product, same prices, no marketing fluff.

First, the fair bit
Wix is the most capable website builder in this comparison and it is not close. You can build almost anything on it, change almost anything about it, and do so without writing a line of code. Wix Bookings is properly integrated rather than bolted on, and there is a free tier that is generous if you can live with a wixsite.com address and Wix branding on your pages.
It is also the right answer for a particular kind of person: someone who enjoys this. If you like choosing fonts, moving sections around and getting a page exactly the way you pictured it, Wix gives you that control and we deliberately do not.
So this is not a comparison of a good product and a bad one. It is a comparison between a tool you use and a service you buy, and the honest question is what your evening is worth.
The numbers
Wix's monthly price is competitive and its free tier is real. On the sticker, Wix wins and we are not going to argue about it.
The cost that does not appear on the pricing page is time. Getting a booking flow set up that does not look like the template it came from is somewhere in the region of eight to twenty hours for most people, spread across evenings, and that is before you have written a word of your own copy or worked out which of your services needs a different duration.
Put a value on those hours at what you charge per hour, and the comparison changes shape. A salon owner billing £40 an hour who spends fifteen evenings on a website has spent considerably more than a year of any subscription on this page.
The second cost is the one nobody predicts: it is never finished. Prices change, a stylist leaves, you add a treatment, the opening hours move for Christmas. On Wix each of those is your job, on an evening, again.
Third-party prices and plans change. Check Wix's own pricing page before you decide.
The actual difference
Wix has to work for a restaurant, a charity, a photographer and a plumber, so its booking module is necessarily general. Anything specific to your trade is something you configure, if it is possible at all.
Solovi only does one kind of business, so the specific things are already there. A calendar for each staff member with their own hours, services and prices. Different durations for the same service depending on who is doing it. Deposits and a cancellation policy that charges the card automatically. Patch test notes that appear while the client is choosing. Optional extras that add both the price and the minutes. Loyalty stamps and gift cards.
None of that is clever. It is just the list of things a salon or a groomer or a trainer actually needs, decided in advance rather than assembled by you.
The trade-off is real and runs the other way too. If your business does not look like ours, Wix will bend and we will not.
If you have a half-built Wix site sitting in a tab, that is the honest answer to this comparison. Not that Wix is bad, but that building it yourself was never going to be the thing you did this month.
If you do move
1. Keep your domain. If you bought it through Wix it is still yours and it can point at the new site. If you have been on a wixsite.com address, now is the moment to get a proper one, and we will sort it.
2. Export your bookings and contacts. Do it before you cancel anything. Your client list is yours whatever you decide.
3. Send us what is worth keeping. Copy you are happy with, photographs, your service list and prices. We do not need you to rebuild anything, only to point at it.
4. We build it and you check it. Nothing goes live until you have seen it and told us what to change.
Live in 7 days or your money back, and paid plans carry a 30-day money-back guarantee.
On the subscription, yes, and it has a free tier we do not match. The cost that does not appear on the pricing page is your time: eight to twenty hours is a fair estimate for getting a booking flow set up that does not look like the template, and it is never really finished. Price those hours at what you charge and decide from there.
It is well built and properly integrated, and for straightforward one-to-one appointments it does the job. Where it gets harder is trade-specific detail: different durations for the same service by staff member, automatic no-show charging, treatment notes shown at the point of booking. Some of that is configuration, some is not there.
Yes. A domain you bought through Wix is yours and can point at your new site. If you have been on a free wixsite.com address that is not a domain you own, and getting a real one is part of what we set up.
Yes, for content: services, prices, hours, photos and text. What you do not do is lay out pages or fight with a design editor, because that is the part we are taking off you. If total design control is what you want, Wix is the better fit and we would say so.
Not a shop. There are gift cards, which cover most of what a salon wants to sell online, but if you need proper product listings and stock, Wix does that and we do not. Blog-style pages we can build; a large content site is not what this is for.
